Banners on the utahtech.edu homepage allow university entities to announce noteworthy happenings taking place across campus. In order for University Marketing & Communication to consider displaying items on the University’s homepage, topics must fall into one or more of the categories outlined below:
Large Events
Definition: Special events with an anticipated attendance of more than 1,000 individuals or involve municipal, county, state, or federal governments
Examples: Commencement, Homecoming, July 4th Fireworks
Time Limit: Banners will be posted no more than two weeks before the event and removed within one day after the event; for events with tickets that must be purchased in advance, sliders cannot go up until ticket sales begin
General Messaging
Definition: Promotional messaging that applies to a broad audience and touts UT’s accomplishments in areas such as academics, athletics, or community outreach
Examples: UT offers the lowest university tuition in the state, UT’s average class size is 20 students
Time Limit: Two weeks
Special Announcements
Definition: News or announcements that are interesting and relevant to the masses and impact a vast majority of Utah Tech’s stakeholders
Examples: U.S. News included UT on its Best Colleges list, Utah Tech Athletics are transitioning to D-I
Time Limit: Two weeks
Emergency Updates
Definition: Time-sensitive updates that impact the safety or well-being of a vast majority of Utah Tech’s stakeholdersExamples: Campus closing due to inclement weather, a suspicious person on campus
Time Limit: Posted as soon as possible and taken down as soon as the issue is resolved
