As the Assistant Director of Public Relations/Publications for Utah Tech University’s Marketing & Communication office, Stacy Schmidt has the opportunity to shape and share the Utah Tech story. She does this as the editor-in-chief of the institution’s magazine as well as other publications that promote the University. She also partners with media professionals, community leaders, and Trailblazers on campus to help raise awareness about Utah Tech’s continued evolution and success.
Born and raised in Utah, Stacy earned her associate degree at Dixie State, her Bachelor of Science in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations at Weber State University and a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies from Southern Utah University. She has extensive experience promoting people and institutions through effective communication strategies and she enjoys working with organizations that change lives, particularly for youth.
Prior to joining Utah Tech University, Stacy spent several years working in Southern California managing the communication efforts and program development for numerous organizations in an effort to help youth find their path to success. This included serving as President & CEO of Children’s Fund, a non-profit organization committed to breaking destructive cycles through strong community partnerships.
Stacy returned to her home state in 2017 to be closer to family and settle into her favorite place on earth – St. George, Utah. Every day since then, she has marveled at the breathtaking landscape, friendly people, endless days of sunshine, and countless recreational opportunities surrounding her. She enjoys biking, hiking, kayaking, hammocking and playing pickleball with her husband. Together, they have five extraordinary children and one grandchild. Stacy loves living closer to her parents, siblings and other family members who are mostly sprinkled throughout the state of Utah.
